My Dad, Chat Support Fails, & Marketing Flywheels
Here's what's on my mind lately...
My Dad is One of My Heroes 💜
My Dad is one of my heroes. 💜 Always has been, always will be.
He was our county's elected Prosecutor for most of my life until I moved out to go to college. One of his biggest career achievements got a form of closure this week, nearly 30 years later. He convicted a man, tried for a triple homicide. The trial lasted 140 days. It's believed to be the longest and most expensive trial in Indiana's history. I've seen press and heard all about it over the years. Seeing as my Dad recently moved back to Indiana and was interviewed one final time about the case, it's a major full-circle career moment.
He has never been a quitter.
He's a fighter that won't ever give up.
He'll outwork anyone to get something done — and done right. He'll always stand up for what's right.
He's the person that taught me the importance of writing and speaking.
He's one of the best communicators, storytellers, debaters, and negotiators you'll ever meet.
He's one of the best damn lawyers around, which is proven by his track record. He's not afraid to go against the crowd.
He's humble but has quiet confidence and commanding presence that'll quiet a room and everyone will listen.
He'll kick your a**, but he'll float like a butterfly and sting like a bee.
I can only try my best to follow in his footsteps in my own ways. He does follow me here, so Dad, if you see this, I love you.
Chat Support is CRO, Too 💬
Nothing says "we care" like a support chat that gives you 10 seconds before closing the door. 😐
I recently needed support from my cell phone company. I started the chat. Waited in line...for a while. While I was waiting, I was doing other things on my phone, of course. I got there in time to save it, but the support agent only gave me 10 seconds to respond before asking if I was still there...and threatened to close the chat. I'd bet money that if you did some user research relative to this chat support, customers would complain about this at a statistically significant level.
Chat support is part of "Conversion Rate Optimization." 💬
Does your chat only give someone 10 seconds to respond? If yes, your chat needs to be optimized.
CRO isn't just things like headline changes. It's EVERYTHING in the customer experience.
I Should've Started This 2.5 Years Ago #Learning
I've been winging my marketing. Now I'm trying to build a machine. I should've started this 2.5 years ago. I'm here now at least. 🤷♀️ Based on my research and following marketing geniuses' content, here's what I've come up with so far. I've outlined what my marketing flywheel should look like.
I'm trying to incorporate AI and automations to allow me to work smarter, not harder...but in ways that aren't sacrificing quality or removing my personal contributions from the lead role within it.
