Chirp of the Week

Forecasting and Annualizing Test Revenue Impacts is B.S. ❌

Stop forecasting and annualizing test revenue impacts. Or stop believing the ones you see.

So many teams blindly follow or create this B.S. for any number of reasons.

It's not possible to do accurately. We all know it.

People still do it though.

Every single time I ask about a model to do it, the creator always says it's arbitrary and knows it's made up. (Seriously, every time.)

If a person or team demands these, it's almost always related to knowledge and culture issues.

Whether it be for marketing purposes or to make stakeholders happy, it doesn't matter. It shouldn't be done.

Don't fall for this trickery.

The only data you can rely on in this regard is data from an actual test itself while it was live.

The Politics of Ideation

Most people aren't going to say to a colleague, "Hey, thanks for your idea but it sucks and we aren't going to do it." 😬

A lot of people struggle with saying "no" nicely though.

I can help you with that. 👇

Insert systems and processes here.

Check out the new #short on my website here giving you immediate ways to handle this easily and effectively. Your team can use these tactics, too.

Boom. Office politics handled. 💥

CRO Adoption Rates are Related to Industry Approachability

Conversion Rate Optimization seems intimidating to a lot of people, I think. 🫣

Perhaps it's because of the name, the description people usually give, the complexities of the work...or something else.

There are a few ways I've been breaking it down recently in hopes of making it simpler and more approachable.

The last thing I want is for businesses to be too scared or intimidated to do it.

This is one of those ways. ⬇️

The visual doesn't apply just to CRO, and I'm sure there are many other names and versions out there.

This is resonating with me right now though.

The concept is really about optimization more generally and a strong, understandable process for going about it.

  • Not all winning strategies are intuitive, and in-person experiences should also be optimized. Read about interesting examples here. Someone shared this article with me last week, and I loved it. It’s worth passing along to you.

  • Did you hear? Bumble has a new CEO. She is coming from being Slack’s CEO. Her angle is heavily focused on AI. Read more here.
